Where to Celebrate the Fourth of July in Yorba Linda
Five ways to spend the day — from the free city show to your own backyard
North Orange County has no shortage of ways to spend Independence Day, but they are not interchangeable. A family with small kids, a couple who want a quiet evening, and a household hosting fifteen relatives all want different things from the same night.
Here are the real options in and around Yorba Linda, what each one is good for, and the logistics that decide whether the day goes smoothly.
The Yorba Linda 4th of July Spectacular
The city's own show, at Veterans Park (4756 Valley View Ave). Free admission, food vendors, a Kids Zone, live music, and a proper fireworks display. Recent years have run 5:00 to 9:30 PM, with the stage presentation around 8:00 and fireworks at 9:00.
This is the default for a reason: it is free, it is genuinely a community event, and the show is good. It is also the busiest option by a wide margin.
The Middle School south field
Same fireworks, different crowd. Seating for the Spectacular extends to the south field of Yorba Linda Middle School, which tends to be the calmer half of the event. If you have a stroller, a folding chair, and no interest in fighting through the main lawn, spread the blanket here.
City rules apply on both sites: no alcohol, no personal fireworks, and no plastic tarps on the grass. Blankets and towels are fine.
An afternoon at the Nixon Library first
The fireworks are the evening; the afternoon is wide open, and it is a long day to fill if you have family in from out of town. The Richard Nixon Presidential Library is minutes down the boulevard, open daily until 5, with free on-site parking — a museum-then-dinner-then-fireworks day runs surprisingly well.

Dinner before the fireworks
The gap between the gates opening at 5 and the fireworks at 9 is four hours. Spent in a food truck queue, that is a long evening. Spent at a table, it is the best part of the day — and you still make the show with time to spare.

Your own place, catered
Plenty of people skip the park entirely — a backyard, a hillside with a decent sightline, a viewing party on the patio. The catch is that whoever hosts spends the holiday at the grill instead of at the table.
Two fixes: private dining for the group in our room, or catering delivered to your home in Yorba Linda, Anaheim Hills, or Brea. You host, we cook, nobody scrubs a grill at midnight.
There is no on-site parking at the Spectacular. The city directs attendees to limited parking at Hurless Barton Park, the Yorba Linda Community Center, and along Casa Loma Avenue — and street closures around the event typically go up at about 5:30 PM and stay up until roughly 10 PM. Accessible parking is at City Hall for placard holders. Turning up at 6 PM expecting to park near Veterans Park is how the evening goes wrong.
